Popular Media In Teaching - Can We Find Common Ground?

As time goes with, it is easily identified that obesity is a growing factor regarding little ones. The majority of the media believes that school's are mostly responsible for the increased rate in obesity. This leads people to follow the media's perspectives over the topic. The media is usually searching for a innovative story, but the problem with this is that society only extends to see one mindset; the media's, leaving the audience to believe a one sided viewpoint. Why are schools people to blame? Schools are an easy target for the media to pin point weaknesses at. The fatty foods purchased at tuckshops and the issue of physical education within schools are the two biggest factors that obesity is blamed on. But what about this parents? Parents are the ones that provide the children while using the money to purchase food at the tuckshops, not the coaches. And with physical activity parents are to blame. Teachers is unable to control children's outside activities, leaving it beyond their control to maintain a good level of exercise for children outside the school hours; that is your parents' job.

But that's to blame? The media portrays schools for the reason that cause, blaming the unhealthy food purchased at the tuckshop and lack of physical activity in schools needed for the children. Schools are an easy target for the mass media to criticize, therefore leaving the public eye to view only the media's perspective about them. The media believes that teachers are certainly not motivating children enough to partake in exercise and that schools may not be attempting to increase the rate of exercise with regard to children. The media also believes that the sausage rolls, meat pies, lollies, soda pops etc, are also the reason obesity. Schools do but not just have unhealthy foods, but the media is not going to mention that as it's their way of reporting on the one sided perspective. It is easily identified that this media is just looking for something/someone to blame about them matter of obese little ones, but yet society is usually drawn in to side with the opinions/views.
